Description: |
Herbaceous parasitic plant lacking chlorophyll, up to 18 cm high, growing on the roots of a variety of woody species. Inflorescensce an involucrate head 2.5-5 cm long and up to 5.5 cm in diameter, covered in overlapping brownish to bright crimson-red scales. Flowers unisexual, mostly hidden by the scales. Infructescence 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, dull reddish-black to crimson, resembling a strawberry. |
