Date of birth: 24 Jan 1876 Date of death: 23 Jun 1958 BiographyAmerican Dr. in Botany from the University of Nebraska, algologist, agronomist. He worked at the Bureau of Plant Industry (USDA), was president of the University of Arizona from 1928 to 1936, traveled to Africa with the Smithsonian Africa Expedition from 1919 to 1920, recorded changes in the plant world with photographic documentation, wrote about soil quality and agricultural production. His collections are kept in TUC. |
